 June 2009: More banks and ATM deployers are buying refurbished ATMs from TestLink in the UK and Czech Republic because the strong euro and US dollar are helping them to make even greater savings than usual.
Used ATM machines refurbished by TestLink to 'as-new' condition cost up to 70 per cent less than equivalent new ATMs.
Those savings are being underpinned by the strength of the euro and the dollar compared with the British pound.
TestLink ATM Sales Manager Andrew French said: "On average, customers outside the UK are saving up to 30 per cent due to the weakened pound and exchange rates.
"These conditions will change so customers need to act fast and save as much as possible."
Refurbished ATMs - just as reliable as new ATMs, often more so
Banks and ATM deployers who buy used ATMs from TestLink find them as reliable - if not more reliable - than new ATMs because they have been stripped down and meticulously remanufactured part by part.
All refurbished ATMs undergo a strict 210-point quality inspection before leaving TestLink's technical facilities in the UK and Czech Republic.
Mr French said: "Refurbished ATMs will always be the smart option because they are as reliable as new machines and cost less than half the price.
"The strong euro and dollar have been making that option even smarter because of the highly competitive position of the pound."
Refurbished ATMs are good for the environment because many used ATM parts and modules would have ended up in landfill, had they not been remanufactured by TestLink.
Upgrades and custom branding for refurbished ATMs
Each refurbished ATM can also be upgraded and branded to clients' specific requirements by TestLink.
ATM anti-skimming kits are a favourite upgrade, as are ATM cassette locking bars to protect currency cassettes.
