Business Industrial Placement - Sales and Procurement

This is the ideal opportunity for you to spend your Industrial Placement year working with, and learning from, the commercial teams of an international engineering business.
This full-time paid internship is based in our Poole head office. This is not an average placement, it’s your chance to take the first steps of a successful career within any of the following professions; Technical Buying, Purchasing, Sourcing or Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Development, International Sales, Logistics and Business Support.

What will the placement involve?
You will be part of two teams, the Purchasing Team and the Sales and Marketing Team, so you’ll get a broader insight into multiple aspects of a successful business. You will spend time providing support to our buyers, and together, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day procurement and timely delivery of the materials and services to the wider TestLink team. You will also spend time supporting our Business Development and Account Managers, expediting orders to ensure smooth delivery of the sales function and maintain our high levels of customer satisfaction.
You will fine tune your negotiation skills liaising with colleagues and suppliers from around the world to ensure deadlines and targets are met. You will further develop reporting and analytical skills compiling work order reports and responding to invoice queries. You’ll gain experience of buying and selling in a global marketplace.
Is this role right for you?
To get the most from this placement opportunity, you’ll need good organisational skills, great attention to detail and strong communication skills. You will be comfortable phoning suppliers to ask for information and updates and keen to learn how to negotiate effectively. This is a proactive role and would suit you if you have a passion for business, engineering, finance or sales and want to help our business grow whilst gaining valuable skills and experience.
You need to have completed your first two years of a Business-related degree and be available for a 10 – 12 month placement. Start and end dates to be arranged dependant on your circumstances.
